Fluoropolymer based processing additives (PPA''s) are frequently used in the plastics industry for the processing of polyethylene and polypropylene. While compatible with most polyolefin additives, certain pigments have been know to cause interference with the fluoropolymer based PPA. Although additive concentrations in the final extruded products are usually expressed in parts per million, interactions among the additives can occur and are often exacerbated by the severe processing of compounding conditions that may precede extrusioa The need to identify such interactions as they affect fluoropolymer-processing additives has stimulated research efforts in our laboratory. An experiment was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of colors and fluoropolymer to improve the extrusion processing of PE resin. The scope of this work was to examine which pigments can affect the functioning of Dynamar™ PPA
