Determination of Geopotential W_(0,ALICANTE) and its Connection to W_(0,NAVD88)

The national territory of Spain is uniformly covered (IGNE, 2005) by the GPS/leveling sites (Fig. 1). The mean diameter of the area is about 750 km, so the resolution of EGM96 is about 0.046 m (NRC, 1997) and the methodology described in (Bursa et al., 1999, 2002) can be applied. First, all the Helmert orthometric heights were transformed to the Molodensky's normal heights, and the tidal corrections were applied, i.e., the tide-free model was used.
