There are numerous regulatory porograms that may impact the flexibility that a responsible party may exercise in conneciton with the asessment and remediation fo contiaminated sites.Federal,state and local environemtla regulatory authorities are rovided authority to regulate the remediation of ocntaminated sites.Each has a somewhat differnet approach and set of regulatory rules and/or guidelines tha twill be applied to site cleanup.An understnding of the impact that suhc authrouiteis may have at a site permits a responsible party to more effectively calcuate all costs related to the cleanup.the author briefly descrbes Federal and Lforida regulatory porgrams governign the remediation fo ta former manufactured gas plant ("MGP") site.A description of a voluntary cleanup a ta South Florida MGP site is the provided to show the effect tha t such regulatory programs had on the various decisions mad e durign site cleanup.
