摘要

A friction pendulum base isolator solution is introduced to mitigate the earthquake response of a proposed high-skewed arch bridge located in Los Angeles. The bridge site has a unique complex geological condition that one end of the structure seats on the fill material and another on the sedimentary rock. This paper presents the numerical studies on earthquake response of the structure and the base isolator design, and exhibitst the effectiveness of the isolator design to reduce seismic response on the arch bridge.
