The Sky-Explorer is designed to be an autonomously flying robot based on a model helicopter which can be used to take videos or to take some special missions in air. The Sky-Explorer system consists of a helicopter with an embedded computer system and necessary sensors on board, and a ground station which is a network of one or more Linux notebook PC. In order to achieve a relatively high-performance and long life formalproduct, we aim at the scalable, programmable, maintainable and portable onboard computer architecture. Then a function distributed computer structure was designed and adopted on board.
