In the design of rear suspension for SUV(Sport Utility Vehicle) there would be multitude of apparently conflictingrnfactors towards which the designer struggles to progress. It will be helpful to co-work with main suppliers beforernproceeding detail design to avoid the aforementioned conflicting factors such as cost, weight, good packaging and partrnproductivity, including ride and handling. In order to develop high performance rear suspension, because the handling ofrnthe vehicle is much more influenced by the rear suspension, we suggest rear multi-link suspension and tire model to thernsuppliers. After benchmarking the competitor vehicle, they modeled them with ADAMS template , and we combined themrnwith the existing full vehicle model which has old rear suspension for comparing their handling performances.rnFurthermore we standardized handling evaluation procedure using several index. By doing that we can optimize thernsuspension type for the new vehicle in the early design stage.
