Unexpected and sometimes hazardous variations in the evaporation rate appear at the surface of cryogenic liquids under storage conditions. This unstable behaviour, which can be reproduced at the laboratory scale cryostat (Figure 1), should not be tolerated in industrial storage containers such as those of LNG and LPG at Skikda and Arzew in Algeria ranging up to 100,000 m~3.
