The hydro-refining process is generally used for removing sulfur compounds contained in the feed oil by hydrogenation in a fixed-bed reactor packed with hydrodesulfurization and hydrodenitrification catalysts. It is known that the stability and efficiency of operation depend upon the types of catalysts and characterization of feed oil. Since hot spot occurrence and the increased pressure-drop buildup are caused in the catalyst layers during the treatment of the oil containing large quantities of heavier oil and cracked oil especially. It has been an important problem to solve those troubles.
