A hybrid solution scheme based on a Monte-Carlo method to calculate the velocity-composition joint PDF (probability density function) together with a finite volume technique (used for the computation of turbulent mean flow quantities) has been applied to mdoel an axisymmetric, bluff-body stabilized turbulent diffusion flame. A RNG (renormalization group) model has been chosen to calculate the mean flow quantities. Finite rate effects have been accounted for by a simplified reaction scheme, based on the ILDM method (Intrinsic Low Dimensional Manifold). The results are discussed and compared with experimental measurements attained at Gaz de France and Sandia National Laboratories.
