ULTRA-SONIC INSPECTION OF COMPOSITE INSULATORS

Due to the specific requirements of composite insulators used in high voltage circuit breakers, the gluing of metallic end-fittings on the composite tube must be checked properly. The Ultra-Sonic inspection. by immersion gives good results. So, even if some more experiments are necessary to determine the detection limit of the method, it appears to be a promising technique to detect and localise gluing defects.
