摘要

The state of the land surface and the water cycle over thernSouth and East Asia can be determined by spacernobservation. New or significantly improved algorithmsrnhave been developed and evaluated against groundrnmeasurements. Variables retrieved include land surfacernproperties, i.e. NDVI, LAI, FPAR, albedo, soil moisture,rnglacier and lake levels. Based on these biophysicalrnparameters derived from microwave and optical remoternsensing observations, a hybrid remotely sensedrnevapotranspiration (ET) estimation model namedrnETMonitor was developed and applied to estimate therndaily actual ET of the Southeast Asia at a spatialrnresolution of 1 km. The changes in glaciers and lakes onrnthe Tibetan Plateau, and the drainage links betweenrnglaciers and lakes are determined in this climate-sensitivernregion.
