Considering large and complex areas like the Tibetan Plateau, an analysis of the spatial distribution of the solar radiative budget over time not only requires the use of satellite remote sensing data, but also of an algorithm that accounts for strong spatial and temporal variations. In that regard, an operational method was developed to produce time series of daily solar radiative fluxes at 1 km~² based on MODIS data products providing surface and atmosphere properties and the ASTER-GDEM2 digital elevation model (DEM). Once the algorithm was operational, an updated version integrating a sub-pixel topographic correction (Roupioz et al. 2014) was tested to improve the estimation of the solar radiative fluxes.
