摘要

The widely used METRIC-based sparing models assume that equipment failures are generated by an infinite working item population. These models were first developed and applied in the US which maintains large fleets of specific platforms obscuring the errors introduced by this simplification. However, in countries like Canada where fleet sizes tend to be small, the errors introduced by this assumption can be significant. In order to deal with small (or finite) fleet sizes, the T-METRIC model is proposed. The model is based on the use of truncated distributions for calculating the expected backorder.
