Carboxymethyl high amylose starch (CM-HAS) isproposed as excipient for oral tablet formulation ofbioactive agents. The bacteria (lyophilizedEscherichia coli) thus formulated displayed highersurvival rates in acidic conditions and for longerperiods than the free bacteria or than the bacteriaformulated with the non-derivatived starch.
