PIROXICAM ENCAPSULATED IN LIPOSOMES: CHARACTERIZATION AND IN-VITRO EVALUATION OFLIPOSOMAL GELS

Multilamellar (MLV) and small unilamellar (SUV)liposomes containing piroxicam were prepared.Carbopol 940 was used to prepare the gels. Therelease of the drug through a semi permeablesynthetic membrane by a new diffusion cells wasdetermined. The types of liposomes influenced thedrug release from the different gels. The SUVliposomal gels release its drug content faster thanhydrogel and MLV liposomal gels.
