As the demand of pressure vessel to be increased generally on the international market, all the products are required in the line of international standards & codes. Therefor, one of codes ASME(American Society of Mechanical Engineering) Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes which is applied more often in the practice from design, fabrication and examination. The article is emphasized on talking about several points for attention and understanding during designing pressure vessel according to ASME B & PV codes. It is made an investigation on follow points: 1. A right selection for ASME B & PV codes sections and editions. 2. How to confirm the loads and design parameters of the pressure vessel. 3. Material selection. 4. How to confirm the Minimum Design Metal Temperature (abb. MDMT) of the pressure vessel. 5. Selection of welding seam examining modes and seam efficiency E. 6. The stress calculation for the pressure vessel. 7. The configuration of manhole and inspection hole for the pressure vessel. I hope that it could be help to the design of pressure vessel which according to ASME B & PV codes. As the development of the electric power in China, the demand of power station auxiliary equipments to be increased generally on the international market. The main equipments of the power station auxiliary equipments are high pressure feedwater heaters, low pressure feedwater heaters, condenser, deaerators and storage tanks, etc. Most of them are pressure vessels. In order to meet the requirements of the international market, all the equipments are required in the line of international standards & codes. Therefor, as an importance international standard, ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineering) Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code is applied more often in the practice from design, fabrication and examination. Compared with the China Pressure Vessel standard, some are quite similar, but most of them are different. We should understand and apply the codes adequately in particular the designer. In the following text , it is emphasized on talking about several points for attention and understanding during designing pressure vessel according to ASME B & PV Codes.
