Enabling Unbounded Imagery Archives for the New Millennium - and Smart Tools Vital to the AGe of Inforamtion Overload

As sources of high resolution earth imagery increase and sophisticated softare tools for their analysis proliferate, opportunities abound to generate finer tuned information about our world. At the same time, users are challenged to manage ever-increasing quantities of complex digital assets. Lockheed Martin's Intelligent Library System (ILS)~(TM), addresses the need for cost-effective management of expanding digital stores, streamlined workflow, and the extraction of information from detailed imagery. Intelligent Library System (ILS)~(TM) was designed for rapid retrieval, automated processing and dissemination to distributed users. A flexible open architecture allows integration of new products into ILS' functional components: SmartArchiver~(TM) and SmartAnalyst~(TM). SmartARchiver~(TM) provides lifecycle control and rapid access to digital assets, including value-added products. The use can query the archive by drawng a polygon on a map or textually specifying search parameters such as data source, geographic coordinates, or ground sample distance. Results can be a list with imagery thumbnails, or a display of area "footprints" overlaid on a map. SmartAnalyst~(TM) is the user's portal into ILS for queries, analyses and the creation of derived products. The SmartAnalyst~(TM) software suite integrates unique ILS software with leading commercial analysis tools including those from ESRI, ERDAS, PCI Geomatics and Sensor Systems for GIS applications.
