An analytical method is presented for the quantification of seven Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs) in urban surface dust and soil based on gas chromatography coupled with negative chemical ionization mass spectrometry (GC-NCI/MS).13C-labeled PBDE was added as a surrogate compound for quantitative determination.The analysis of seven PBDEs in dust and soil samples was accomplished using GC-NCI/MS in the selected ion monitoring mode (SIM).An average recovery rate of 13C-labeled PBDE of 101 ± 7% was achieved with a correlation coefficient of greater than 0.999.The pretreatment procedure for this method is straightforward and relatively safe,while qualification and quantification remains responsive and precise.This method can be broadly utilized to detect PBDEs in ambient medium.
