INFORMATION COLLECTION REQUEST (ICR) FOR MERCURY: CORRELATION ANALYSIS OF COAL AND POWER PLANT DATA

Based on the analysis presented in this paper, an estimated 45 tons of mercury are emitted to the atmosphere by coal utilities in the United States. This prediction compares well to several other studies. Brown determined 51.46 tons are emitted (Brown et al., 1998), while EPA estimates 50 tons (EPA, 1998).
