The BLDC motor (brushless DC motor) Is widely used In Industrial and domestic appliances. Particularly, the Interior permanent magnet (IPM) type BLDC motor has the structural matter of the rotor to make large cogging torque that may cause noise and vibration. In that sense, this paper Is about the designing method of flux barrier In order to reduce the cogging torque. Here the directions of flux lines generated In the permanent magnet built In the rotor are evenly distributed within the rotor by such designed flux barrier. Additionally the cogging torque is reduced to provide the flux density generated on the surface of the rotor with a sinusoidal form.
