N-expansion Method Based on Domain Decomposition for Computational Electromagnetics

摘要

In generalized multipole technique (GMT), only mulitipole expansions, or p-expansions are used. These basis functions are defined on the whole domain. This paper presents the normal expansion, or n-expansion method based on the domain decomposition. The whole domain is divided into subregions, like what is done in finite element method (FEM). In each subregion one n-expansion is applied. Then all subregions are jointed together by the continuity conditions and the coefficients of all expansions are determined by using point-matching technique (PMT) or generalized point matching method (GPM). This scheme eliminates the dependencies among basis functions and leads to a sparse system matrix.
