The method proposed is based on time-domain reflectometry (TDR). The TDR will consider the communication path as a succession of N discrete resistance R_1 through R_N. The algorithm used assume that the transmission path may be represented as N small, uniform segment of ideal transmission lines with identical lengths and propagation velocities.
