The effect of the parameters that might characterize a barred beach and that canrnpotentially affect the crescentic pattern spacing has been studied. A barred profile similar to thatrnmeasured at Duck, October the 11th 1990, has been approximated by an analytical function thatrnallows to modify the barred profile by changing, separately, the values of the main geometric andrnforcing parameters. The developing of crescentic patterns has been obtained by means of arnnumerical model based on the solution of the non-linear shallow water equations and the sedimentrnconservation equation. The numerical experiments show that the parameter that exerts the strongestrninfluence on the crescentic bars spacing is the width of the surf zone over the longshore bar. Therncrescentic bar spacing increases with the width of the longshore bar surf zone. The crescentic barrnspacing is also sensitive to the distance from the shore to the bar crest. In agreement with previousrnworks, the numerical experiments show that increasing the distance from the shore to the bar crest,rnresults in a wider spacing of the crescentic pattern.
