摘要

This paper describes the development of a large-scale spit formation at the city of WalvisrnBay, Namibia. The observed acceleration of shoreline evolution was found related to a shift in thernmean wind direction that occurred in the late seventies and continues until today. The study includedrnmathematical modeling of coastal processes and was supported by an extensive field data collectionrnprogram.
