Fine sediment mass fluxes are estimated for a particular suspended mudrnconcentration time series acquired over several weeks off the east coast of England in thernNorth Sea. Suspended mud at this site is characterised by advection of fine sediment alongrnthe coast with the tide resulting in semi-diurnal peaks in concentration near slack water.rnPredicted mud fluxes at the site are different in direction to both the residual current flowrnand the direction of sediment supply. Residual fluxes may be biased by cumulative errorsrnresulting from instrument calibration and inferred vertical concentration profiles. Thesernfactors are assessed in relation to both predicted mud flux magnitudes and directions.
