摘要

Diphenyl carbonate (DPC) is an important industrial precursor, especially for the production of polycarbonates with non-phosgene[l]. The conventional method for the synthesis of DPC is the phosgenation of phenol. In recent years, a safe and environmentally benign process for the synthesis of DPC is increasingly demanded. The transesterification of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and phenol is thought to be the most suitable green synthesis route with nonphosgene for industrial production of DPC, because DMC is achieving increasing importance and interest in the chemical industry, mainly for its versatility as both reagent and solvent and its nontoxicity for human health and environment [2]. This route is a two-step process, which involves the transesterification of DMC and phenol to methyl phenyl carbonate (MPC) (Eq. (1)) and the further transesterification of MPC and phenol (Eq. (2)) or the disproportion of MPC to DPC(Eq. (3)).
