Solid base catalysts with alkaline or other metal oxide by sol-gel method were prepared for vapor phase aldol condensation of acetaldehyde. The reaction was carried out in the fixed bed reactor at the temperature of 300-350 °C. Results indicated that the activity of catalysts increase in the order of K2O-SiO2
