All-optical wavelength conversion using a liquid-filled photonic crystal fiber

, a 2-meter-long CS2-PCF is used as a nonlinear medium for wavelength conversion of a 10 Gb/s non-re turn-to-zero (NRZ) signal. A 3-dB tunable wavelength conversion bandwidth is about 108 nm and the conversion efficiency is about -10.6 dB when the pump power is only 14 dBm. The eye diagrams show that there is no additional noise during wavelength conversion. Simulations show the feasibility of even higher bit rates (up to 100 Gb/s) operation by using appropriate input pulses.
