Integrating Process Safety and Line Management

In today's environment in the chemical industry many companies are striving to optimize profits by optimizing organizations. The process safety function should be included in those optimization attempts just like all other functions. To optimize both results and resource requirements, line management should have responsibility for the process safety function. This paper addresses the value and importance of managing process safety within the line organization. Concepts to be discussed include 1. Prerequisites for successful line management of process safety 2. Implications for line management 3. Benefits/results 4. Corporate support required 5. Implications in a downsizing environment.
