A Practical Approach to Reducing the Cost of PHA Revalidations

Are you revising your process hazards analyses (PHAs)? Are the review meetings taking as long as the original PHAs? The proper collection of information, identification of process changes and other required information can be improved. Results have shown that the display of changed information at the team's "fingertips" can increase the PHA revalidation efficiency up to 50%. Also, those documents can become a dossier of your process safety management memory. A review of the importance of a good management of change system, interrelated with the documentation control system, incident investigation and the mechanical integrity program, provide a baseline for reduction in preparation time. Strong preparation and dynamic display techniques are the keys for reducing the PHA's revalidation meeting time and making the revalidation process cost-effective.
