Rehabilitation of the U.S. route 46 bridge over Overpeck Creek

The U.S. Route 46 Bridge over Overpeck Creek in New Jersey, USA neededrnsignificant rehabilitation due to the poor condition of its superstructure system. The project wasrnone of the first to be on NJDOT's hyper-design/hyper-build schedule. On this project, deliveryrntime was reduced from 48 months to 6 months. Project features included replacing the existingrndeck and steel superstructure with the Inverset Bridge System; replacing the existing rockerrnbearings with seismic isolation bearings; using precast concrete pedestals; performingrnunderwater substructure repairs; and utilizing a temporary gantry system and staged constructionrnthat allowed the bridge to remain open during demolition and erection activities.
