摘要

A single-ended traveling wave-based fault location method for parallel lines with same length is presented. This method takes advantage of the availability of the two current transformers located in one terminal of the fault paths composed by the parallel faulted and healthy lines. Basically, the first incident fault-induced wave is detected at the monitored terminal and then, the second traveling wave reflected from the fault point or refracted at the remote terminal that returns through the healthy line are detected. Taking into account these wavefronts, the proposed formulation is derived, which does not require the data to be synchronized. By doing so, the method accurately estimates the fault distance, being independent from communication channels and GPS apparatus.
