The crescent use of electronic devices have provided more comfort and efficiency in a wide number of activities, not only in industry, but also at homes. However, the distorted currents consumed by those devices cause of a lot of problems such as voltage distortion in AC power outlets or grids, and poor power factor. Efforts have been done to solve this, and Series Active power filters have been created, as way to reduce or correct that ac distortion and provide a good ac voltage to loads. This paper discusses a performance enhancement in a single-phase series active filter voltage controller using cascade inner and outer control loops. The inner current loop is formed by a PI controller and the outer voltage loop by a PID controller. The controller design will be discussed and simulation results will be presented.
