Q system and RMR method in this paper are applied to classify the results of engineering geological survey in Chengchao Iron Mine. Rock mechanical experiments of specimens from-430 m level to -800m level and various criteria are used to analyze rockburst tendency. With the initial geostress data and 3D nonlinear FEM analysis, the distribution laws of energy in wall rock and critical depth of rockburst during deep mining are discussed. As a result, the possible rockburst prevention measures are also proposed with the horizontal residual stress and characteristics of sublevel caving taken into consideration.
