Friction in an internal combustion engine is usually associated with wear of the surfaces in contact. In order to minimise both friction and wear, oil is conducted in between the contact suraces.this is normally done with the help of a lubrication system. But in addition to the prupose of decreasing friction.the system performs seve4ral other important tasks,as for instance to conduct away heat. The oil temperature is important since elevated oil temperatures deteriorate the oil and can also cause lubrication problems,as the viscosity becomes low.
