Over the last decade, safety restraint systems in automobiles have progressively gained attention. Federal, national, and international safety regulations have become increasingly severe, with consumer awareness of safety issues at an all time high. The automotive Market is becoming increasingly competitive. Based on these current trends, vehicle manufacturers are continually working on applying newer technologies and refining their safety restraint systems. With that, there is a movement in the market to search for the newer, better and cost effective material solutions to keep the cost down without sacrifying the performance. This paper will focus on the development of a dimensionally stable reactor TPO that is suitable for inflatable curtain clips/ramps and passenger air bag cover applications. The comprehensive study focusing on the rigorous testing, deployment and the performance results of this new TPO will be reviewed in this paper.
