This paper seeks to provide an under-pinning theoretical framework for, not only understanding howrnhumanchines (the duality of human and machine artefacts, or the humanchine actor) and their networks comerninto being, persist and change, but for envisioning and developing them. This will be accomplished by exploringrnthe idea of integrating structuration theory (ST) and actor network theory (ANT). The result is a hybrid theoryrnwith which to understand and ultimately underpin research and interventions in the world that encompassesrnhumanchine change (integrations of human and technology) within organisational network ecologies. Thisrnhybrid framework is given the working title of the hybrid neologism ‘StructurANTion’.
