Improved communications will have an ever greater effect on the way we do business in the next century. combined with advances in science, medicine, and technology, communications will foster greater cooperation among the nations of the world, and increase trade among them. Just as societal progress was propelled in fits and starts by invention, the industrial revolution, sanitation and disease control, the quality revolution and most recently, by invention of the computer. It will progress still further with effective application of the computer, design of foods and drugs, and better preventive measures to reduce disease and delay mortality.
