With the type of retanning agent (Levotan C-C, Mimosa ME) and different dosage as the influence factors, and wet white leather as the raw material, the control mechanism of retanning technics was studied in this paper. By measuring several leather characteristic parameters (compression work, compression index, lastometer work and lastometer index), the optimal dosage of different kinds of retanning agent was confirmed, and the effect of the retanning agent dosage on the control of retanning technics was summarized. The results show that the optimal dosage of polyurethane and Mimosa retanning agent are all around 4%, and the results are in accordance with it in theory very well. So it is feasible to control retanning process by measuring several leather characteristic parameters.
