For the last several decades, we have been developed the canned motor pump. And in parallel with pump development, we have developed bearing monitor too. Bearing monitor is monitoring equipment of bearing inside the canned motor pump. The canned motor pump is single-piece construction with motor and pump. Therefore the canned motor pump has a weakness that it is impossible to know the bearing state of wear from outside, because of bearing and rotating parts hermetically sealed. To overcome this weakness, we have developed the two systems. One is detection the rotor position with small coil inserted in the motor (stator). And another is detection shaft whirling is caused by bearing wear using mechanical contact. These methods have both merits and demerits and it's impossible to detect the all forms of bearing wear and continuous states. We have improved that characteristic by inserting 8 downsized search coils in the motor. In the result, it is possible to detect the all forms of bearing wear. In this paper, these technologies about monitoring of bearing are introduced.
