Abstract: The basic characteristics of the optically addressedspatial light modulators are presented based onferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) as a lightmodulating media and amorphous hydrogenated siliconcarbide a-SiC:H and dye-doped polyimide films asphotoconducting layers. The parameters of theconstituent parts are described, among them:photoconductivity of photosensitive layers, data aboutnewly developed light blocking layers, characteristicsof the FLC materials, utilizing the deformed helixferroelectric effect. The dynamics of the response inhundreds Hz region, the diffraction efficiency of 20%at spatial resolution better than 501 p/mm, andsensitivity in range of microWatt/cm$+2$/ areobtained.!29
