PRACTICAL ACTIONS OF RUSSIA ON PREPARATIONS FOR DESTRUCTION OF STOCKPILED LEWISITE AND 'MUSTARD'

The Government of the Russian Federation, the Russian Ministry of Defence, and, particularly, the Commander of Troops of Radiological, Biological, and Chemical Defence Department, are responsible for CW destruction in our state, and for protection of inhabitants who may be affected by CW destruction problems.rnSpecial attention in our activity in this sphere will be paid to Russia's CWC obligations. Understanding that possible affects of any activity related to CW destruction may have a harmful influence on people's health and on the ecosphere, we are compelled thoroughly to evaluate, to solve problems of waste discharge, and in other respects also to perform control over CW destruction technologies. These requirements are predominant in development of CW destruction technologies.rnIn spite of the current hard economic situation of our state, the Russian Federation remains committed to the principle of general and complete chemical disarmament and will strain every effort to save the human race from such weapons of mass destruction, now and forever.
