In the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation, there can be distinguished the range of electromagnetic fields and visible light that affect living organisms, and at the same time have application in a therapy. The results of research studies presented regarding the influence of both the electromagnetic field and visible light unambiguously indicate that these factors significantly affect the physiology of cells and tissues and the regulation of physiological processes taking place in cells and tissues that give positive and negative effects in terms of health. The research described in the paper are intended to demonstrate that radiation can have a positive or negative effect depending on the physiological status of the cells it operates on. Finding specific parameters would help in finding new therapeutic applications of radiation, for example in the treatment of depression by phototherapy or rehabilitation by magnetotherapy.
