SPECIFICATION OF FOOTWEAR FOR POSTAL WORKERS

A review of uniform footwear was carried out due to concern over high numbers of slip, trip and fall accidents and non-compliance with wearing uniform shoes and safety shoes. The study involved questionnaire surveys, user workshops, discussions with postal workers and manufacturers. Footwear trials and analysis of accident statistics were also carried out. Functional specifications were developed based on the user requirements identified. The footwear has now been issued and its acceptance by staff and accident statistics are being monitored.
