ISO 9001:2000 'IDEAS': Expert Responses to Key Questions

"IDEAS" is an activity in the Product Support Initiative. One of the major outputs is a series of questions and answers which are responded to by a panel of at least three experts. The responses are published in the monthly newsletter THE INFORMED OUTLOOK. This paper discusses the responses to question 6, "auditing a processes-based system." Three questions were addressed: 1. How does process auditing differ from auditing in the past? 2. How will an internal and 3rd party auditor determine that the QMS has been effectively implemented? 3. How does an internal and 3rd party auditor handle a QMS with limited documented procedures?
