The current problem facing flood support and rescue organisations is how to access areas of shallow water to enable thernbuilding of new defence systems, transporting equipment, getting supplies and medical support facilities into floodedrnareas quickly and efficiently, without causing further damage. The Hovertrans solution is to take the commercially usedrnHoverbarge that has a proven track record of operating in remote shallow water and mudflats areas for over 30 years andrnadapt it for an emergency support and rescue base. This base would be fully mobile, thus enabling access to shallowrnwater areas. Hovertrans have outline designs for a fully amphibious Hoverbarge up to 2,500 tonne payload. This means arnpurpose built support base can be transported on the Hoverbarge. The amphibious base can then be positioned as close tornthe disaster area as possible, with high speed Hovercraft accessing the flooded areas from the base.
