Performnace-based training is mandatory under many OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations. An effective training program is structured to meet individual needs. This paper discusses theories of learning and how they are integrated in the training program. Individuals differ in their methods of learning. While some individuals are visual and auditory, others are participatory learners. Motivation also plays a key role in prolducing a change in behavior. This change can be measured and used to determine training effectiveness.
