In order to clarify circumstances of air pollution and Kosa, aerosol was collected using high volume air sampler in Datong and Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China, from 2002 to 2004. (1) Taiyuan : The sulfur isotope ratios of sulfate ranged from 0 to +10 per thousand and showed seasonal variation, with an increase in Kosa period. This seasonal variation suggests that sulfate in aerosol is derived from a source, having a higher sulfur isotope ratio, such as the Gobi Desert. (2) Datong : Relation between concentration of F~- and SO_4~(2-) is good in all seasons. This suggested that F~- and SO_4~(2-) caused by combustion of coal. Good relationships occur between NH_4~+ and SO_4~(2-) suggested that the main soluble minerals are (NH_4)_2SO_4 of anthropogenic origin.
