Alternative drive systems, able to take advantage of renewable energy production, are fostered with the aim of increasing the sustainability of the energy sector and reducing pollution in urban areas. In particular, electro-mobility is a possible alternative and its market share is expected to increase significantly in the next years. One of the barriers that could prevent the electro-mobility diffusion is the limited capacity of distribution networks to sustain all the new connections. The paper summarizes the expected effects of the future development of electro-mobility and related charging infrastructure on three networks of Edyna (South Tyrol). The impact on the networks is evaluated in different scenarios of penetration of electro-mobility and the performance of some control solutions are evaluated.
