Rationalized girder bridges have been put into practical use due to the cost reduction de -mands of infrastructures in Japan r in recent years. On the other hand, the low torsional stiffness of such bridges and related dynamic problems are concerned , r especially for curved ones. The purpose of this study is to provide an analytical approach to simulate the coupled vibration r of rationalized curved bridges and running vehicles , which can be used to investigate the issues mentioned above. In this r paper, a curved twin-girder bridge with general axial section is adopted for the analysis. A general large dump truck with r one axis at front and two axes at rear is modeled as a sprung -mass dynamic system with 12-degree-of-freedom for the vehicle r -bridge interaction analysis. The bridge is modeled with three-dimensional beam elements. The coupled vibration of the r interaction system is formulized and a computer program is developed. To investigate the basic characteristics of the curved r bridges, eigenvalue analyses of the bridge with different types of crossbeams are carried out. Then,the coupled vibration of r the running vehicle-bridge interaction system is simulated and evaluated.
